from: Waxing your Surfboard

You get excited seeing those riders being able to successfully ride over the waves. And so you purchase a new surfboard to go with the trip and get ready to catch your own share of waves. However, you cannot start off surfing when you haven’t done waxing your surfboard, unless diving through the waves is your trip and not riding over it.

Before you strike to the nearest surfboard store, you have to find out what kind of wax will be the best to suit your need. You just don’t buy any wax and spread it over your surfboard. Waxes are meant for specific use and you have to get the right type.

The credible person you can ask about this can be the sales person at the local surf shop. They have knowledge on this since it is their product and know the proper applications of it. But before you go to them, it might be necessary that you prepare yourself with vital information they need to figure out what kind of wax you need particularly. One useful information is knowing the temperature of the water you are planning to have your surfing. Water temperature varies from one specific location to another or from one continent to the next.

Applying the wax

When you were able to know what kind of wax you specifically need, you can have it purchase and start waxing your surfboard. You can begin with spreading the wax in the nose of the board in circular motion that would be 3in-6in circles. Make sure that you are able to completely spread the wax to the board since the main purpose of it is for you to have a good foot grip when you are up on your board.

After being able to do this, check the side rails and make sure that you are also able to wax this area. This is where your hands would normally grip. Also, if you are wearing a wetsuit, you can keep a little chunk of wax tucked away in case you need it while you’re out in the water.

Taking a ride over the waves can be very challenging. Hence, you have to properly equip yourself not only by having a good surfboard but also by taking precaution against slipping through the water. This is then answered by properly waxing your surfboard.
